Thanks to White Oak Bayou Association for organizing a clean-up on February 18th of this lovely natural area that neighbors Woodland Park.
TRASH CLEAN-UP
Saturday February 18; 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM
The White Oak Bayou Association with the help of volunteers from the consulting and engineering services firm Tetra Tech, will be cleaning-up an area along WOB near Houston Ave. informally called 'The Swamp' as it is an abandoned meander cutoff that usually holds some water. The area (known as White Oak Park on eBird) is an important stop for migratory birds and some resident species. As you can see from the accompanying recent (1/17/23) picture, the water is only a few inches deep over most of the area where it collects, so rubber boots would be useful. There is also much dry(ish) forest understory around it if you need to stay away from the mud. We are so happy that our friends at Tetra Tech will be joining us, but we need you, too! Hope you can make it.
