Andrew Rachels, an Eagle Scout candidate in Troop 879, is working with the Friends of Woodland Park on an HPARD Greenspace approved Boy Scout Eagle Project on Saturday March 23rd, starting at 9am. The event will continue to Sunday if needed.
The Eagle Scout project will primarily focus on planting 1,000 seedlings provided by the Greenspace division in the nature preserve. Andrew is currently in need of donations and volunteers for his project.
Volunteers will be planting seedlings in the wooded area of Woodland Park. These seedlings would serve the purpose of providing shade, preventing erosion, and improving biodiversity in the area. We will also be picking up trash.
Most of the materials and supplies needed will be provided by HPARD and The Friends of Woodland Park. Because of this, we really don't have to raise much money for the project itself but I would like to make a donation for future park needs. Because of this, his goal is $600. Andrew is estimating $350 will be needed to purchase supplies for the volunteers and he set a minimum donation goal of $250 to The Friends of Woodland Park.
Andrew says that any and all help is greatly appreciated!
