The Friends of Woodland Park are celebrating the opening of the newly reforested corner of Woodland Park at the corner of Wrightwood and Houston Avenue. The Mayor, our city council member, Ed Gonzalez, and representatives from the Houston Parks and Recreation Department, Houston Parks Board, and SWA Group will be joining us on Saturday, April 19, at 1:00 p.m. for an honorary opening of the reforested area.
As many of you know following last summer’s bulldozing incident in Woodland Park, HPARD received a damage settlement of $300,000. This was thanks to the Mayor’s priority of protecting our public parks and trees. We want you to see and enjoy the benefits of that settlement and thank the many groups of people that made it happen.
If this wasn’t special enough, we will also kick off Woodland Park’s Centennial Celebration with birthday cake and refreshments. Woodland Park is celebrating its 100th year as a city of Houston public park and we want you to help us commemorate this special event!
Mark your calendars:
Saturday April 19th, 1:00 – 2:30 p.m.
Parking is always an issue so please walk, ride bikes, roller-blade or skateboard to the park if you are able!
We look forward to seeing you there!
