Today we had over 160 hard working Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, parents and community leaders working to pick up trash in the Park. We picked up hundreds of bags of trash. Rodric Ferguson, Woodland Park's Community Center Manager and sick with a fever, made sure to have the building open for our volunteers through the entire four hour event. Even though Rodric is a city employee, he is a tremendous member of the FWP team, as he is always going out of his way to support our park improvement efforts. We couldn't do this without him.
We also thank Council Member Karla Cisneros for speaking to the crowd about the importance of keeping our city beautiful, Master Naturlist Steve Brennan for once again sharing his amazing knowledge about the flora and fauna found at Woodland Park, and Steve Hupp from Bayou Preservation Association, who talked to the kids about watersheds and the importance of keeping trash out of our water ways.
Thank you to all the scouts and parents who helped preserve this natural gem near downtown.
