On Sunday April 24, from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm, at Woodland Park (212 Parkview) the Friends of Woodland Park and Bridgestone Americas (parent company of Firestone Complete Auto Care) are teaming up for a major park clean up event. Volunteer check-in is 7 am – 8 am. (Rain date tbd)
We will provide refreshments, snacks and lunch. There are numerous volunteer opportunities ranging from event set-up and trash removal to tire extraction from Little White Oak Bayou. All equipment will be provided.
To register, please go to friendsofwoodlandpark.org. Volunteers are required to sign a liability waiver and must be at least 18 years of age if they wish to extract tires from the bayou. We encourage pre-registration so that there will be sufficient lunch and snacks.
The support of this clean up event is part of Bridgestone Americas Tires4ward Program. The program supports “putting old tires to good use” by properly recycling tires that are removed during de-littering events of public lands and waterways held by different groups nationwide. Bridgestone’s program subscribes to the long term vision that all tires serve beneficial end uses after they are taken off of vehicles. For more information on this program and all of Bridgestone’s sustainability work, please visit their website.
This is our second partnership with Bridgestone Americas in Woodland Park and Little White Oak Bayou. This year we are also fortunate to have several neighborhood Girl Scouts of America troops helping us with trash removal.
