The Bridgestone Americas and Friends of Woodland Park cleanup day scheduled for this Sunday, April 24th is now rescheduled for Sunday, November 6th from 8am to 12pm.
The Tax Day Floods of 2016, not surprisingly, left Woodland Park a soggy mess. The areas surrounding the bayou are a mushy combination of matted grasses, mud, and trash. Now we all know dirt don't hurt but the high waters also brought an unknown number of creatures into the bayou (some with very sharp teeth!) and the muddy, slippery hill is way too dangerous for hauling anything out of the bayou. For all these reasons, and a few more, we think postponing is the smart decision.
We hope our friends and generous sponsors understand this decision is out of an abundance of caution for the well-being and safety of our volunteers. Don't forget to mark your calendars for November 6th. If you have any questions or comments you can simply reply to this message.
P.S. Stay tuned for our upcoming Happy Trails & Hot Dogs announcement, a great community event in Woodland Park on June 4th.
