Jason Bonilla, Houston Audubon Society:
We had our April Bird Survey this morning with 33 species. It was an amazing morning of birding. The birds looked like ornaments in the trees. Spring birds were all over Woodland Park this morning and have been all week based on Mary's reporting.
Here is a list of the birds while I was there. Mary and Chris stayed longer and pulled in a bunch of other birds too, over 50 species! There were several new birds added to our official survey list (Eastern Kingbird; Bay-breasted Warbler; Blue Grosbeak). I also added my 200th bird species to my personal Harris County life list from our sightings at Woodland Park this morning (Eastern Kingbird). I suspect there will be good spring birds at Woodland Park over the next couple of weeks if you get a chance to bird the park. As of now, our next Woodland Park survey will be on May 19th.
