From Jason Bonilla, our resident bird expert with the Houston Audubon Society:
Happy New Year!
We conducted our January bird survey at Woodland Park this morning with 27 species identified. We found a Nashville Warbler this morning! This warbler usually just passes through during migration so was surprising to see it here in January. That's a new bird for Woodland Park surveys. I spent too much time unsuccessfully trying to get a scope photo with my iPhone but the warbler would not stay still. Here is the full list and spreadsheet from all years. Our next planned Woodland Park bird survey will be on Saturday February 23rd at 7:30am.
Thanks! Jason
