A big thank-you to all our neighbors who came to the October 13th presentation from Scott McCready of SWA Group. If you couldn't make it to the event here are some highlights from the proposal:
Major goal of the improvements is to create a unified experience within the park and unify the park with the existing infrastructure and trails from White Oak Bayou.
Widen paths and sidewalks throughout the park.
Plant additional trees along pathways to increase shade and add visual interest.
Expand the children's playground.
Return a small portion of the east field to prairie grass.
Introduce crushed granite border as a secondary pathway and buffer between the sidewalk and tree line.
Build sitting area on the backside of the community center, and with thoughtful pruning of brush and trees, create a view down to Little White Oak Bayou.
Improve trails leading through wooded areas down to Little White Oak Bayou.
Renovate the intersection of Houston Ave. and White Oak Blvd. to improve pedestrian safety and connect White Oak Bayou to Woodland Park.
The Friends of Woodland Park thank the Houston Parks Board, HPARD, Councilman Ed Gonzalez, TIRZ 5, and SWA Group for their continued interest and support for Woodland Park.
